Sat 7th Aug 10 @ 10:30 Family Learning Day

10:30am - 3:30pm

Come and try your hand at surviving the outdoors.
Learn bushcraft skills such as firelighting or building your own shelter.  Try your hand at our practical conservation tasks. Learn how to navigate your way around the grounds.

The activity day is for young people aged 10-16 yrs and their guardians.  Activities are also provided for younger siblings. Wear comfortable old clothing and boots. Cafe and shop open on site. No pre booking needed.

Getting there:

By train: The Moorland Discovery centre is 1 mile from Grindleford station

By bus: Regular buses run from Sheffield and the surrounding area to Fox House Inn opposite the Longshaw Estate.  The 240 from Sheffield-Bakewell the 272 Sheffield-Castleton and the TM travel 65 Sheffield-Buxton all pass Longshaw estate.

By road: The Moorland Discovery centre is 7 1/2 miles from Sheffield city centre, on the junction between the A6187 (Ringlow road) and the A625 to Hathersage.  If you are in a mini bus or car it is possible to park in the main estate.  The car park is pay and display and costs £1 per hour or £2 all day.

Fri 27th Aug 10 Taster Session

Taster session booked for the full day covering elements of the Youth Ranger programme such as fire lighting and shelter buiding.  To find out more contact the Youth Ranger Team.

Sun 29th Aug 10 @ 10:30 Sheffield Fayre

Come and meet the Youth Ranger team at Sheffield Fayre.

The various attractions include favourites such as the Sheffield Horticultural Show and the largest "Through the Ages" Living History show in the North of England.

The History Camp ranges from Roman times to the Second World War, encompassing live battles and displays in costume with over 600 re-enactors.

The Horticultural Show brings out Sheffield's green-fingered experts, embracing competitions for amateurs and serious enthusiasts, with classes for families and children. Other attractions include children's fair rides, a communities tent, a craft tent and market, entertainment for all of the family, food and refreshment stalls and lots more.
